National Geographic photographer Carsten Peter captures images while Tim Samaras deploys a scientific weather probe in the path of an oncoming tornado near Manchester South Dakota on June 24th, 2003. An astounding world-record pressure drop of 100 millibars was recorded as the tornado passed over the device.
